1936 hatte er in Helmstedt, woher sein Vater stammte, das Doppelporträt Der Müller und seine Frau gemalt. Es zeigt Beckmanns Eltern – nicht in ihrer wirklichen Erscheinung, denn sie waren lange tot, sondern in Rollen, die Beckmann ihnen zuwies. Das Werk hat in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus unvorhersehbare Wege genommen. Nach seiner Entstehung in Helmstedt nahm Beckmann die Gouache vermutlich mit zurück nach Berlin. 1942 verkaufte Curt Valentin es in New York an den ehemals am Städel als Kurator tätigen Oswald Goetz.

Die Monographie beleuchtet mit den Beiträgen von Carl-Heinz Heuer, Anja Tiedemann, Siegfried Gohr, Nina Peter, Cathrin Klingsöhr-Leroy und Thomas Döring verschiedene Aspekte des Doppelporträts. Die Autoren rekonstruieren die Entstehungsgeschichte der Gouache, verfolgen den Weg des Werks während und nach dem Krieg und reflektieren Vorbilder, Komposition und Bedeutung dieses Bildes, das Zeitzeugnis ist, zugleich aber in geheimnisvoller Weise über die Epoche hinausweist

Juli 1945 begann die Erfolgsgeschichte eines heute weltumspannenden Konzerns mit mehr als 400 Einzelgesellschaften und über 88.000 Mitarbeitenden in 80 Ländern. Würth ist Weltmarktführer in der Entwicklung, der Herstellung und dem Vertrieb von Montage- und Befestigungsmaterial. Maßgeblich verantwortlich für diesen Erfolg ist Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth, der die Firma nach dem frühen Tod seines Vaters im Alter von 19 Jahren übernahm.

Die Jubiläumsausstellung Leben & Wirken wird 2025 zu seinem 90. Geburtstag am 20. April 2025 und zur Gründung der heutigen Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG im Jahr 1945 im Atrium des Museum Würth 2 gezeigt. Die begleitende Publikation dokumentiert die Ausstellung in Wort und Bild.

Forchtenberg-Ernsbach – in dem die Firma Arnold vor über 120 Jahren die ersten industriell gefertigten Schrauben in Hohenlohe produzierte, befindet sich heute das Kocherwerk – Haus der Verbindungstechnik. Nach einer sorgfältigen und behutsamen Sanierung über 18 Monate konnte das denkmalgeschützte Gebäude im Sommer 2021 seiner neuen Bestimmung übergeben werden. Wirtschaftsgeschichte der Region im Bereich Schrauben und Befestigungstechnik, Firmenhistorien, spannende Zeitdokumente und Exponate sowie digitale Zugänge und Technik zum Anfassen und Ausprobieren für Jung und Alt wurden dort erlebbar gemacht. The Würth collection in dialog form

Hans ARP and Knut Henrik Henriksen seem to have little connection, at least at first glance. The Alsatian avant-garde artist of modern art is widely known for his biomorphan sculptures made of marble, bronze or plaster. Contemporary Norwegian artist Knut Henrik Henriksen (* 1970, lives in Berlin), on the other hand, attracted attention with large-format architectural interventions from chipboard and styropor. Half a century lies between these artistic positions. ARP stands for the ideals of modern formalism, while Henriksen’s work is to be read in the light of postmodern surveys; on the one hand, works are free and autonomous in appearance and, on the other hand, sculptural interventions that deliberately pick up and problematic their physical environment.
How important is ARP for Henriksen? The curator of the exhibition, Andrea Kroksnes, follows up on this question. A question that was also taken into account by large exhibitions such as documenta 2007 or this year’s biennals by Berlin and Whitney, following the observation that today’s generation of artists is indeed working with the specifications of an avant-garde of classical modernism.
The exhibition, which was initiated exclusively for Galleri Würth, is represented in a loose exhibition series that maintains a “dialog” between the Würth collection and exciting items from outside.
